voor alles een laatste keer
2025 | Pexpo amsterdam | 14 feb - 31 mar

about
every year starting on Valentine’s day, pexpo hosts an artist for six weeks to present work around the theme of love.
i approached them with my project “nog één jaar om je los te laten” (“one more year to let you go”) and, once chosen for this year’s edition, added on other work.
for example, this was the perfect opportunity to finally exhibit “Benauwd”, a project I made in 2020 about the process of breaking up with my boyfriend while also being quarantined together for COVId-19.
additionally, I exhibited a triptych i created Valentine’s day 2021, the first valentine’s day after breaking up with boet, and i displayed pages from a portfolio i created at de fotoacademie called “ik hou van maud / ik niet” (“I love Maud / I don’t”). this later also became the title for my graduation book, which had a broader thematic scope.
i also created two new works, both more sculptural: “in bed” and “voor altijd van mij” (“Forever mine”). The first was a new weaving collage (after “body dysmorphia” at my graduation exhibition), for which i focused on the symbolism of intertwining, and used photos of me and past lovers in my bed (aptly named: “in bed”). the other project, “Forever mine”, marks my first attempt at epoxy: i collected relics from past relationships (an eye mask, a beer mat with a phone number, a broken bracelet) and immortalized them in epoxy.
